The Two-Faced Rooster

Sculpture of a work by Jean-Paul Gourdon.

This sculpture is an identical reproduction of a work by Jean-Paul Gourdon, a ceramic artist with more than 40 years of experience. The rooster, the central figure of the piece, is sculpted as a support for a dual reading. On one side, scenes and symbols related to humanity, love, and intimacy are revealed. On the other, the sun and the moon evoke the cycle of time and the alternation of day and night. The sculpture thus invites the viewer to move around the material, gradually uncovering its full symbolic meaning. Creating this reproduction required great precision in the stone carving, in order to faithfully respect the volumes, proportions, and details of the original work.
