Ornamented Surrounds

Burgundy stone window surrounds, 24 - Dordogne

This dressed-stone project involved the creation of four decorated surrounds, comprising two simple openings and two oculus windows, all entirely crafted from Burgundy stone. Each opening was custom-carved, with particular attention given to mouldings, volutes, and sculpted ornaments, adding finesse and elegance without excessive decoration. Burgundy stone, chosen for its nobility, durability, and natural patina, allows for harmonious integration into the existing masonry and ensures excellent longevity. This project illustrates the workshop’s expertise in traditional stone carving, combining technical precision, attention to detail, and respect for architectural heritage.
